«From 2010 to 2025, I’ve witnessed Berlin’s raw heartbeat evolve. Walking home from German class, I photographed empty streets that once pulsed with underground energy. By night, I slipped through velvet ropes into clubs where techno roared like a living pulse. Behind the crumbling sections of the Wall, two Berlins coexisted: the wild, untamed disco subculture and the rising tide of gentrification. Over time, cranes sprouted across the skyline as luxury apartments replaced warehouses and squats. The city that once prided itself on “Berlin ist arm, aber sexy” shifted into a polished metropolis—its creative heart at risk as rents soared and tenants were pushed out. The pandemic closed doors on nightlife, while inflation tightened the city’s pulse even more. Club after club shut down—the ominous “Clubsterben.” Yet despite transformations, Berlin still breathes in corners of neon, sweat and whispered longing. My Leica captured souls in transition—ownerless angels navigating a city that refuses to stand still. Between its walls, Berlin remains a canvas of desire, loss and persistent hope».
